According to the Geological Survey of India, Lithium inferred resources (G3) of 5.9 million tonnes have been found in Salal-Haimana area of the Reasi District of Jammu & Kashmir.

Lithium is the key component in manufacturing of EV batteries.

Lithium is a non-ferrous metal and is one of the key components in EV batteries. “For the first time, lithium reserves have been discovered and that too in Jammu and Kashmir,” Mines Secretary Vivek Bharadwaj said
