Indian fans are miffed with the team management, selectors and the BCCI for not playing Virat Kohli in the ongoing three-match series against Sri Lanka.
The 34-year-old former India captain has been rested as the BCCI wanted to try out new players after India’s failure in the semi-final of the ICC T20 World Cup in Australia.
The Indian cricket board has decided to phase out Rohit Sharma and Kohli from the shortest format and they are unlikely to feature in the next T20 World Cup in 2024.
With another top-order collapse in the opening T20I against Sri Lanka at the Wankhede Stadium, fans took to social media to slam the BCCI and even told them to continue with seniors in the slam-bang version.
BCCI,Indian Selectors and Hardik Pandya dropped Virat Kohli from T20I team after such a massive Asia Cup and T20 World Cup,just to give chance to so called youngsters and now everyone is exposing against Sri Lanka on their Home soil.#INDvsSL @BCCI @vikrantgupta73 @chetans1987

Do u guys really think @BCCI will continue in T20Is without Rohit Sharma & Virat Kohli.
•Avg viewership when they play 1 Cr, & in today’s match avg viewership 22 L, don’t forget that BCCI is all about money & business so if this continues the bd revenue will fall atleast 70%. pic.twitter.com/Z7AEhSdxJE

The Men in Blue scored 162/5, with Deepak Hooda, Axar Patel, Ishan Kishan and Hardik Pandya contributing with the bat.
Rohit, Virat and KL Rahul will return for one-day internationals against the Lankans. Jasprit Bumrah, who was out of action for four months due to back injury, has also been added to the ODI team.
