Virat Kohli 100th T20: IND vs PAK: India’s opening match in the Asia Cup 2022 in Dubai is going to be a special one for Virat Kohli. The Indian batter will be playing his historic 100th T20 at the Dubai International Stadium on Sunday. What makes it even more special is the fact it is an India vs Pakistan encounter. Kohli’s good friend and former South African captain AB de Villiers also wished him luck for the 100th T20 game.
Kohli and de Villiers are very close to one another. Their friendship dates back from their IPL days with Royal Challengers Bangalore, and has only flourished ever since.
“I would like to congratulate my very good friend Virat Kohli on becoming the first Indian cricketer to play 100 matches across all formats. What an incredible achievement. We are all proud of you. And all the very best in the 100th T20 game, and we will be watching you,” de Villiers said on Twitter video, which was posted by Star Sports official twitter handle.
It is important to note that the Indian has also become the first Indian player to play 100 matches across all formats. When it comes to international cricket, Ross Taylor became the first ever cricketer to play 100 plus matches in all formats.
Current India captain Rohit Sharma has played the most number of T20 matches for India with 132 under his belt. Kohli has played 99 T20s so far along with 102 Tests and 262 ODIs.
Even Faf Du Plessis, who plays for RCB currently, joined in to congratulate Kohli on the landmark. He is eager to see what the Indian can achieve in the next few years and also said there is lot left in the tank as well.
