Virat is a great player but he can’t be a part of the team based on past performances – Former player warns Kohli
Virat Kohli’s poor form continues to be a part of discussion with the 33-year-old set to return for the second T20I against England. Kohli has not scored a century since 2019 and his below-par display has been alarming in the ongoing year.
The two remaining matches against England might just be Kohli’s last chance to secure a place in the squad for the T20 World Cup. Former India fast bowler Karsan Ghavri has said that Kohli may be one of the greatest players of his generation but he will have to prove himself to keep his place intact.
“Virat is a great player but he is getting dismissed caught behind or caught in the slips while chasing the delivery outside the off stump. If he doesn’t improve, there will be a question mark on his place in the team,” Ghavri told Jagran TV.
“He has to prove himself as he can’t continue playing based on his past performances. Virat has to perform and score runs. Everybody understands that he is going through a rough patch and it happens with every player. But his personal form is very disappointing,” he added.
