According to a report that has surfaced, UIDAI has cancelled more than 5,98,999 duplicate Aadhaar cards so far. According to the news, the Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology Rajiv Chandrasekhar informed the Lok Sabha about the cancellation of duplicate Aadhaar cards.

Let us tell you all that until now, Aadhaar verification used to happen only with the help of fingerprints and iris. Responding to another question on illegal websites offering Aadhaar-related services, Chandrashekhar said, “UIDAI has also sent notices to these websites.”
Further, he said that UIDAI has given notice to the owners of the respective websites to restrain themselves from providing such unauthorised services in any way, and also to the service providers to host to block the disobedient websites with immediate effect. Since January 2022, 11 websites have been barred from offering such services. During this time, he also informed that these websites do not have the right to enrol the resident and modify the biometric information or add the mobile number of the resident to the existing Aadhaar. Apart from this, to update all the details from updating the mobile number to the address and photograph, users will have to visit the UIDAI’s official website as well as the authorized Aadhaar centres.
